Sweet little generator By Campodan
A friend of mine bought one of these at Costco, and I was very impressed with it's quietness. Even though it says refurbished, it's like new. It came in a box with a bunch of paper fill and I did not receive a manual,but it was easy to find a free one online.
I paid $150 less than my friend did and he got a deal!
The comparable Honda is very good and also very quiet but also costs $650 MORE!
This Champion unit is quiet, very easy to start with effortless pull starter. I have used it with a grinder and it worked flawlessly. It only actually has 1600 Watts and will shut down if it is overloaded with like a large compressor, but normal shop tools will operate just fine. I also use it with my electric chain pole saw to cut down overhanging oak tree branches. Also runs a long time on a one gallon fillup and that's at a pretty good load.

Great generator and a very good deal. I did a lot of research prior to buying this unit. However, my experience would be negative for others. Let me explain...Prior to buying, I communicated with the seller and asked what condition the units are in. I was told the units are in "like new" condition. When I opened the box to the generator I felt that statement was a huge overstatement and misrepresentation. The unit was covered with a layer of fine dirt (dusting of dirt) through out and had a panel with a crack in it (in an area behind the service panel). Not really wanting to deal with returning it, I proceeded to clean the unit. I dismantled all the panels and cleaned it (taking about 3-4hours). I added oil & gas and fired it up; it runs perfectly fine. The next morning I sent out communications of my concerns to both the seller and Champion. Suprisngly, I was contacted immeidately by both parties. Phenter carried on responsive email communications and was quick to offer a resolution. Champion responded with a phone call and left a message, I called them back the following day. They addressed my concerns and explained they test units prior to sending them out and that 80% are "like new" physically and 20% are used- "dirty" like mine. and they don't clean the units. But more importantly, they make sure unit are operating within spec.
If you can get over possibilty of something not being phycially perfect but saving a lot of money...buy this unit. The seller and the mfg stand by their products. Champion seems to be a great service company. At the end of the day, I am willing to do a little cleaning to save some money. The description should be changed from refurbished to used. The generators are not refurbished in any way. They are big box store returns that are being resold. The product may have cosmetic issues. The product I received was severely damaged, the replacement would not run.
