Got this to fight back extended power outage due to Hurricane Irene. Arrived in 2 days. Took 20 minutes to install, and 2hrs for electrician to run the wiring. Runs the whole house.
We connected to main panel using a transfer swith. We used the 240V output.

Easy to start, I have been using kick start.
Don't know about the long-term reliability of the product given it only comes with 90day warranty. Based on 2 days of performance I will recommend this product.

I ordered this generator and it arrived after a month long back order. I assembled the unit and then added oil and gas. I turned key to pull start position and couldn't get cord to budge. Next, I tried using the electric start but to no avail. The engine wouldn't tum over. So the next day I called the factory and they said it was probably a bad recoil pull start (though why wouldn't the electric start work if that was the case??). So, I removed the recoil mechanism per the factory tech's instructions, and the pull start mechanism was fine. The rep escalated my issue and, after some phone tag, the tech reported that a valve was bad and the engine needed to be taken apart and repaired. They wanted me to bring it to a service center about 30 miles away. I was not interested in a new generator with a seized motor so I called Amazon. Amazon immediately credited my account! Amazon handled this problem quickly and hassle-free! Although I wouldn't buy another generator from this manufacturer, I will continue to buy on Amazon every chance I get. I have never heard of Buffalo Tools before so I did a lot of research and ended up selecting this generator over the bigger names in the industry mostly because of price and because the reviews on other sites were all really good. Another reviewer gave this a low rating because of the confusion between continuous watts and peak watts which in my opinion is unfair to the product especially if you did not buy it and are rating something based on an advertisement and not the product or product performance itself. With all generators you will have continuous and peak watts so make sure you do your home work by going to multiple sources before buying something.
As far as my experience goes I bought my generator online from one of the big box home improvement stores because the price was better than Amazon's. I received it three days later and it was pretty easy to setup and get running. There is not much to setup other than the wheels, handle and front feet. I did have to inflate the tires which was no big deal at all. The handle took all of 2 minutes to assemble and the feet and wheels probably took another 15-20 minutes. After filling it up with oil and gas it started right away. I did not by a battery yet and may not do so since the pull start worked just fine.
This is my first generator so I cannot compare it to anything else, but this sucker is very loud if you are standing any where near it. If you are inside your house you can barely hear it, but outside it can definitely be piercing. I have not had a power outage yet, but I did plug a freezer and a refrigerator into it to load test it for a 1/2 hour. Both appliances ran well without any hiccups as did the generator. There have been no leaks from the generator and it stores fairly easily.
Other than how loud the unit is the only other complaint I have is that the two front rubber feet have already worn and deteriorated a bit after only one use. I have called customer service and they are going to send out a replacement assembly. As of now I am happy with my purchase.
