Offering an even more compact frame for 2011, the Generac GP3250 portable gas-powered generator (model 5982) provides a reliable 3,250-watt power supply wherever you need it and a maximum power output of 3,750 watts. An OHV (overhead valve) engine delivers performance and power, while a sturdy steel-tube cradle protects the generator's exterior. For safe and comfortable use, the circuit-breaker outlets prevent power overloads, and the low-tone muffler makes for ultra quiet operation. And with its solid, never-flat wheels and ergonomic fold-down handle, transport and storage are quick and easy.
The hardened steel-tube cradle, fold-down handle, and wheel kit ensure both durability and portability (see larger image).

Did not work right out of the box By gary j. matcheson
Purchased the Generac GP 3250 Generator and received in on September 23, 2011. It was unboxed and remained in my garage until the Fall snowstorm in Connecticut on October 22nd when all power went off for three (3) days. Pulled out the unit, put oil and gas in the generator for the first time, and hooked it up to my sump pump. The generator started right up but DID NOT put out any AC. Nothing that was hooked up to the generator worked. The generator ran, but nothing else. Called Generac and they said that I would have to take it to an authorized Generac repair facility but were unable to say that the repairs would be covered by the warranty. The repair facility said that they would look at it but that it would take one (1) week before they could get to it. When I asked Generac if they test all units before they are sent out by the factor, they said that they were. But, if the generators come without oil or gas, how is that done? So much for having a generator on hand for an emergency.Arrived In Pieces - Avoid! By Michael D. Macdonald
UPDATE: After initially accepting Amazon's offer to send me a replacement unit, I decided to just take a refund instead. Amazon declined to take the old generator back and said I was welcome to do with it as I pleased. I ordered some parts from a third-party...a new air cleaner housing and an air duct. When the parts arrived, I pulled the unit completely out of the box and discovered that the bottom frame was dented and bent but not so bad as to be unusable. I replaced the air cleaner housing, installed the air duct (an air hose to the carb) and noticed that the choke was broken off the carb and that the linkage was a little mangled. I got the choke handle on and was able to straighten the linkage. I put oil in the unit and added gasoline and it fired up (after I discovered that I connected the linkage backwards...long story). I plugged a lamp into both of the two 120v outlets and it lit up which apparently is a good sign and so I think I have a working generator for the price of some spare parts, a skinned knuckle and a lot of aggravation.
In inspecting the frame damage and the damage to the air cleaner and carburetor, it's clear to me that the factory puts these units on their side and slips the plastic bag over them. If the generator is flipped over hard enough, the damage I saw is exactly what would happen...basically, careless packaging at the factory.
Original review is below:
Ordered this item and received it 8-9 days later. When I pulled it out of the carton, there were broken pieces of plastic at the bottom...the housing for the air cleaner and a plastic duct were both badly damaged as though someone had reached in the framing with a hammer and took a couple of swings. My first call to Amazon resulted in being referred to Generac who had no idea how this was their responsibility. (Generac customer service is a nightmare of disconnects and being passed from person to person but that's another story.) To Amazon's credit, after 5 days they offered to send me a replacement unit at no charge or a refund.
In further research, I discovered that these units are made at a factory in China -- I had been under the impression that they were made in Wisconsin. Between all the other negative reviews for units received badly damaged and my own experiences with poorly built engines from China, I decided to take the refund and I'll shop for a unit that is better built.Powering us through 2 big storms By S. We have about 200 hours of generator time on this unit so far. Excellent. Does not slow down or miss a beet.
Starts on the 1st pull almost every time. It is definitely quieter than our neighbors generators too.
1 day shipping, good price ...2 year warrenty, which most do not have.
Its all made in china, so you cant really avoid that.
