What They Says:
Hyundai HY2000si By raazrbks
I ordered this generator/inverter from Amazon.com & it arrived 2 days later with free shipping! The unit was packaged well. The first thing I noticed was it's physical dimensions were larger than the Honda I previously owned. This is a backup generator & will be used for remote power around my property.

The unit started on the 4th pull. It ran for 5 minutes & died. The next day it did the same thing. Rather than call customer service, I decided to try & fix the problem. It was an easy repair, the inline fuel filter was cracked & leaking allowing the carb to suck air. $2.47 at the parts store & good as new.

As far as performance, it is just slightly louder than the Honda, starts easily & performs as stated. I would have given it 5 stars but the fuel filter issue keeps me from doing that. If you have the cash, spend the extra $500 on the Honda & you will not go wrong because they make a great product, if not, the Hyundai is a good exception. I have no regrets on this purchase.

UPDATE: The initial issue was the ignition coil
Authorized service unable to fix unit. They are sending me a replacement
Hyundai warranty tech very easy to deal with.

Keeping me online during Irene. By Kevin Tierney
Ordered this and went with two day shipping and got it Thursday before Irene hit us. Started on second pull. The only time I had trouble starting it was when I left it in the off position on the front panel. Has been running a 42inch Plasma TV, HD DVR/Satellite box, Laptop, Network, vonage phone, dsl modem and refrigerator and used about 1- 1.5 gal of gas in 5 hours. Not for heavy loads, couldn't get it to like my 1100 watt micro, but I'm sure it was trying to draw more. If not for this, I would be clueless and without news, weather etc. This isn't the generator to power your house, but it can keep you connected to the world and your food from spoiling. It has been on my deck in a semi protected area running for 6+ hours during the storm. Very very happy with my purchase.

Hyundi HY2000si - Hurricane Review By Tree
Two parts to this review.

First Part...
If you do not have Amazon Prime, look into it. Just from this one order it paid for itself. Hurricane Issac was a couple days away from landfall so I started preparing for the storm. One of the key things I needed was a generator. Since I live in Baton Rouge, every generator in town was already sold, even the display models where unbolted and sold off the display. So with no generator in sight, I turned to Amazon. After looking at a number of reviews I decided to go with this Hyundai since I couldn't afford a Honda. It was on Amazon prime so the shipping was free, but for a couple dollars more I could get it next day. Let me remind you that this is a heavy item so it isn't cheap to ship. Without Prime this would have easily cost over $100 to ship next-day without Prime. So I ordered this online Monday morning, showed up Tuesday afternoon just hours before the storm started to roll in. Good thing too because we lost power for three days once Issac pushed through. Even the delivery guy was impressed that I received this before the storm.

Second part of the review...
Like I mentioned above, power was out for three days so things would have been very measurable for my Wife and I without this Generator. I filled it up, primed the fuel line, and on the third pull it was up and running.

I ran it off and on for three days to conserve fuel since the hurricane knocked out most of the power in the area. It was very efficient as well. On economy mode I ran it all night (to power fans, charge phones) and only used about a gallon of fuel. Ran fairly quiet as well, considering it is a gas-powered generator after-all. It "purred along" throughout the night just outside our window as we slept.

Do not expect this to run your whole house on this thing. It is meant for things like Tailgating, camping, remote job sites, and help run the basic things around the house during a major storm (Like Hurricane Issac). Stuff like your refrigerator, microwave, TV, and window unit... Just not all at once mind you.

Also, this HAS a built-in inverter which is a good thing if you want to run high-end electronics. It will help provide "clean" power so you do not fry your computer or TV while you tailgate.

My only knock on this is the fill cap/lid. It is a flimsy plastic lid that covers the gas cap. It is supposed to stay open when you lift it, but it is cheap and refused to stay open. Not a big deal except when you try to lift a gas can to refill the generator the darn thing kept closing shut... Very annoying. Its kind of like a toilet seat that refuses to stay up while you try to pee (Guys, you know what I am talking about.)

Honestly, it can be dangerous as well since the fill-cap is placed right above the power plugs. Just imagine your trying to "top-off" the tank and due to the flimsy plastic lid you spill a little gas down the front and along the power plugs, one spark and BOOM! It's not a deal breaker, but certainly something to keep in mind. They should have moved the fill-cap to the side. As for that Flimsy plastic lid on mine, I will most likely just rip it off since it really servers no purpose other than give the generator a "clean" design/look.
