Winegard Satellite By AngelS
Likes: Size is small and not too obtrusive. Was simple to install. I'm slightly disappointed in the reception while in-motion. It pretty regularly loses signal and of course at the most inopportune times during a program. While sitting, reception is excellent. Overall, it beats the heck out of an antenna.Great Product By EdieG
We bought a VuQube approx 3 1/2 years ago, and it went bad. We decided on this one to replace it and so far we absolutely love it. If it outlasts the VuQube we will be very happy with our selection. It works perfect sitting still and going down the road.Good price point- works pretty darn good By J. Fuller
I got so tired of the struggle of trying to set up satellite on our camping trips and I was amazed to find out that it might even be possible to have motion satellite that I couldnt' resist Amazon's offer on financing at it's new LOWER price.
Installation was pretty straightforward. I read the instructions first, and it took me about an hour to actually install the equipment. It took me more time to figure out how to wire it for 12V operation.
Afterwards, I took it on a long test drive and I have to say it worked fairly well. It does glitch when going over bridges, and you will lose signal in tunnels (as expected), and if you do 180 to 360 turnabouts it can get scrambled and need a period of recovery. Overall, however, it has worked.
One annoying feature is the motor runs constantly when searching for signal and even after a LONG wait when you know it is not going to find a lock on. I also found that I probably should have mounted mine toward the backend of the couch insead of the front. When I'm parked most of the time the tree coverage blocks my signal altogether. You pretty much need open sky in the campground to get signal. There is no real way around this--so I do keep my old tri-pod and dish around just in case.
Note: Don't read into the in-motion description that I am inferring that you should ride down the road watching satellite television. My use is restricted to my passengers who like to be entertained while I'm driving. In this regard, the unit works as advertised.
Amazon offered a new and reduced price, and they were offering a special no-interest finance at the time so it was easly to pick it up. I'm glad I did and will enjoy it for years to come-- assuming no hardware malfunctions.
