Offers great flexibility but... By M. McEnery
We purchased this generator to power a sump pump at a building that has no electricity. Having a generator that runs on propane allows it to run for much longer than typical gas generators. Cost of operation is about the same as gas generators as best as we can tell.
The only problem experienced to date is we have had difficulty getting it started. We changed the spark plug and that has helped somewhat, but we still have to use ether to get it started most of the time. We are waiting on Buffalo Tools to get us the local service repair shop so we can bring it in for warranty repair. Unit is just 2 weeks old.Easy start By kbuck
Received generator two days after I ordered. Very fast shipping! Unpacked it, put in the oil, hooked up the propane, choked the carburetor, and pulled three times before I remembered to turn the valve on the gas tank. Fired right off the first time after that. Subsequent starts were just as easy. One pull only. It ran my saws and drills with no problems. I hope it lasts, because the engine manufacturer is unknown to me, and I know nothing about the valves, bearings, etc. So far, though, it has been a really sweet little generator.Propane is the Way 2 Go !!! It was delivered, took it out the box, added 20 oz 10W-30 as required, hooked up LPG tank and that baby fired up on the 3rd pull. Then I plugged in a "kill-a-watt" meter and read about 125vac @ 63hz.... this is good for me, because I would rather have slightly more voltage/power rather than not enough.
Then I plugged in a full-size refrigerator and ran for 1 hour while using a 1/2 inch 7amp drill & recipricating saw. Handled all loads like a warrior.
As far as portability, I simply sat my generator onto a mover's dolly so I can roll it around most of the time & only have to lift when putting on my trailer.
BE CAREFUL, the choke lever is plastic and VERY FRAGILE !!! Keep that in mind whenever you get ready to toggle between choke & run. I bought this generator to be prepared for this year's Hurricane season, but I will use it often since it is so easy to operate & maintain. Oh yea, I got mine from Home Depot for same price but who cares, its absolute Great Generator in my opinion no matter where it came from!!!
